Download Issue: As part of its Creativity & Culture program, the Rockefeller Foundation established the Multi-Arts Production (MAP) Fund to foster work in the performing arts that explores the dynamics of contemporary culture and to support a diversity of artists and arts organizations. This highly competitive annual grant program invites applications from professional artists and arts organizations that have demonstrated a commitment to excellence in the creation of new work. The MAP Fund accepts applications from US-based nonprofit organizations that have been in existence for at least two years. Proposed projects must be for a new work that has not been previously produced, except in developmental workshops. New work may include the use of classical or pre-existing texts if the artist demonstrates how the approach is innovative. Activities that have been supported through the program include commissioning of artists, research and development, artist residencies, and the costs associated with the production of new work. Skateparks in Low-Income Communities The Tony Hawk Foundation invites applications for the Skateparks in Low-Income Communities program. The primary mission of the Foundation is to promote high-quality, public skateparks in low-income areas throughout the US. Foundation grants are awarded to encourage and facilitate the design, development, construction, and operation of new skateboard parks and facilities in low-income communities. Informal Science Education - Project Grants The National Science Foundation invites Project Grant applications for its Informal Science Education program. The ISE program invests in projects that develop and implement informal learning experiences designed to increase interest, engagement, and understanding of science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) by individuals of all ages and backgrounds, as well as projects that advance the theory and practice of informal science education. Projects may target either public audiences or professionals whose work directly affects informal STEM learning. ISE projects are expected to demonstrate strategic impact, collaboration, and innovation. An organization may serve as the lead on up to three preliminary proposals and on three full proposals in each round of competition for ISE Project Grants. Water Quality Cooperative Agreements The Environmental Protection Agency is requesting proposals from States, Tribes, local governments, non-profit organizations and other eligible entities under the Clean Water Act Section 104(b)(3) for unique and innovative projects that address the requirements of the National Pollutant Discharge Elimination Systems program with special emphasis on wet weather activities, i.e., store water and concentrated animal feeding operations as well as projects that enhance the ability of the regulated community to deal with non-traditional pollution problems in priority watersheds. Wyeth-Lederle Vaccines Young Investigator Award in Vaccine Development The Infectious Diseases Society of America invites applications for the Wyeth-Lederle Vaccines Young Investigator Award in Vaccine Development. Young investigator awards are for junior faculty members only. This annual award provides funding for outstanding research in vaccine development, either through clinical or laboratory investigation. COS, January 20, 2005. Senior Scholar Award in Global Infectious Disease The Ellison Medical Foundation invites applications for the Senior Scholar Award in Global Infectious Disease. The purpose of the program is to support investigators who are already established and recognized for their substantial contribution of creative and productive research. With the Senior Scholar awards, the foundation seeks to be complementary to other major funders of research by placing emphasis on projects that might not be supported by traditional sources because of their perceived novelty or high risk, or because the investigator is moving into a new research area. Education Research Program Consortia The Department for International Development (DFID) invites applications to run new Education Research Program Consortia (RPCs) to generate development research programs that will inform the international community as it acts to eradicate poverty. RPC centers should be planned around a particular research and policy theme. They will be led by one organization forming a consortium. The David and Lucile Packard Foundation has again invited Duke University to submit two outstanding candidates for its Packard Fellowships competition. The Packard Fellowship program supports research in the natural and physical sciences and engineering. The disciplines that will be considered include physics, chemistry, mathematics, biology, astronomy, computer science, earth science, ocean science, and all branches of engineering. Awards are not directed to areas that "already have access to relatively generous funding," e.g., "clinical research, research associated with the design and construction of large national facilities such as accelerators and space stations, and applied research of direct relevance to national security." Paired Fellowship for Research in Conservation The Center for Advanced Study in the Visual Arts invites applications for the Paired Fellowship for Research in Conservation and the History of Art and Archeology. Applications require teams of two scholars: one in the field of art history, archeology, or another related discipline in the humanities or social sciences, and one in the field of conservation or materials science.
