Fishery Resource Grant Program

The North Carolina Sea Grant is accepting applications for the Fishery Resource Grant Program to protect and enhance the state's coastal fishery resources through individual grants. The program's basic principle is that people in the industry often have the best ideas for improving and protecting fisheries but may lack the financial resources or scientific backgrounds to conduct experiments, collect data, and analyze results. The program invests in ideas generated by the fishing public through fair and competitive methods and, where appropriate, seeks to partner persons in the fishing industries with academic researchers to ensure useful, well-documented results. Proposals submitted by those not involved in a fishing industry must be submitted with a fisher as co-principal investigator, have substantial involvement of North Carolina fishers, and have written endorsements from persons or organizations representing fishing industries supporting the project. Deadline: Dec. 9.
