Biochemistry and Molecular Biology The International Union of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology (IUBMB) offers the Wood-Whelan Research Fellowships to support young biochemists and molecular biologists who need to travel to other laboratories in the IUBMB and International Council for Science (ICSU) region for the purpose of carrying out experiments that require special techniques or for other forms of scientific collaboration or advanced training. The fellowships will be awarded for travel lasting one to four months. A fellowship is intended to cover travel and incidental costs to a total of $3,000. This STA provides opportunities for promising young foreign researchers in the fields of science and technology to conduct research in Japan's national laboratories and public research corporations (excluding universities and university-affiliated institutes). The field of research will be negotiated between the candidate and the host institute. Applicant must: have a doctoral degree in a scientific, technological, engineering or medical field; under 35 years old; and be in good health. Japanese language is preferable, but English is sufficient in most cases. Fellowships are awarded from 6 to 24 months. Round trip airline ticket economy class; a monthly living allowance of $2,200; a family allowance at a flat rate of $410/month; an initial international moving allowance of up to $1,600; an annual allowance of up to $935 for travel within Japan; housing; and medical insurance for the Fellow only will be provided. The Japan Science and Technology Corporation (JST) seeks applications for the Science and Technology Agency (STA) Short-Term Fellowships. The Council of American Overseas Research Centers (CAORC) seeks applications for two Fellowship Programs in the fields of humanities, social sciences, and related natural sciences. The CAORC Fellowships for Advanced Multi-Country Research are intended for scholars pursuing research on broad questions of multi-country significance in countries in the Near and Middle East, and South Asia. It provides the successful candidate with a period of mentored research as part of a strong, established collaboration between a U.S. sponsor and a leading developing country scientist at an internationally recognized research institution.
