December 2007 Awards* Atila Abdulkadiroglu of the Social Science Research Institute has received an award from Columbia University for a project entitled "Market Design with Budget Constrained Agents." Total funding will be $5,070 over 12 months. Roni Avissar of Civil Engineering has received an award from the University of Georgia for a project entitled "A New Carbon Flux Super Site." Total funding will be $199,961 over 24 months. David Beratan of Chemistry has received an award from the University of Pittsburgh for a project entitled "Nanocrystal-Based Diodes for Solar to Electric Energy Conversion." Total funding will be $60,000 over 12 months. April Brown of Electrical Engineering has received an award from the Office of Naval Research for a project entitled "Fundamental Studies of GaN HFET Syntethesis on SiC." Total funding will be $84,999 over 2 months. Kenneth A. Dodge of the Center for Child and Family Policy has received an award from America's Promise Alliance for a project entitled "National Action Strategies Evaluation." Total funding will be $195,917 over 7 months. Earl H. Dowell of Mechanical Engineering has received an award from Honda R&D Americas, Inc. for a project entitled "Aeroelastic Investigation of Horizontal Tail, Control Surface and Tab Flutter." Total funding wil be $35,000 over 12 months. Tracy A. Falba of the Center for Health Policy, Law and Management has received an award from Yale University for a project entitled "Stress and Patterns of Addiction in a National Population of Adults." Total funding will be $29,035 over 9 months. Joel L. Fleishman of Public Policy Studies has received an award from the William and Flora Hewlett Foundation for a project entitled "A Proposal for Renewal Support of the Duke Foundation Research Program (DFRP) in the Center for Philanthropy and Voluntarism of the Terry Sanford Institute of Public Policy at Duke University." Total funding will be $600,000 over 36 months. Gary Gereffi of the Social Science Research Institute has received an award from Environmental Defense for a project entitled "Environmental Defense Research Consultancy on Selected Industries." Total funding will be $8,000 over 3 months. Patrick N. Halpin of the Marine Lab has received an award from the National Environmental Trust for a project entitled "Understanding the spatial relationships between krill fishing and krill predator distribution around the Antarctic Peninsula." Total funding will be $6,940 over 1 month. Kelly J. Jarrett of the Duke Islamic Studies Center has received an award from the Josiah Charles Trent Memorial Foundation for a project entitled "Marketing Muslem Women: An International Conference." Total funding will be $5,000 over 12 months. L. Gregory Jones of the Divinity School has received an award from the Lilly Endowment for a project entitled "A Center for Christian Institutional Leadership." Total funding will be $2,500 over 12 months. Connie M. Shelton of the Divinity School has received an award from the Duke Endowment for a project entitled "DE-2008 Assistant/Student Pastors." Duncan Thomas of Economics has received an award from the Population Reference Bureau, Inc. for a project entitled "Reproductive Health, Empowerment of Women and Economic Prosperity." Thomas of Physics has received an award from the Army Research Office for a project entitled "Strongly interacting Fermi gases in reduced dimensions." Total funding will be $24,000 over 5 months. David C. Toole of the Divinity School has received an award from the Duke Endowment for a project entitled "Thriving Rural Churches Initiative." Total funding will be $3,790,000 over 60 months. Avner Vengosh of Earth & Ocean Sciences has received an award from the Kuwait Institute for Scientific Research for a project entitled "Research Agreement with Kuwait Institute for Scientific Reseach."
