Susan C. Alberts of Biology has received a Doctoral Dissertation Improvement Grant from the National Science Foundation for graduate student Jenny Tung, for a project entitled "Genetic Variation and Gene Expression in Wild Baboons." Total funding will be $14,996 over 24 months.

Owen L. Astrachan of Computer Science has received an award from the National Science Foundation for a project entitled "CPATH CDEF: Interdisciplinary Problem and Case-Based Computer Science." Total funding will be $241,366 over 24 months.

Roni Avissar of Civil Engineering has received an award from the National Aeronautics and Space Administration for a project entitled "Evaluating the Effects of Land-Surface Heterogeneity at Various Scales on Atmospheric Boundary Layer Processes." Total funding will be $24,000 over 36 months.

Ana P. Barros of Civil Engineering has received an award from the National Aeronautics and Space Administration for a project entitled "Characterization of Aerosol-Cloud Rainfall Interactions and Water Cycle Impacts in the Himalayas." Total funding will be $72,000 over 36 months.

April Brown of Electrical Engineering has received an award from the Army Research Office for a project entitled "Sensor Material Design by Application Driven Optimization." Total funding will be $320,000 over 6 months.

Roberto E. Cabeza of Cognitive Neuroscience has received an award from the National Institutes of Health for a project entitled "Exploring the Extent of Unconscious Visual Cognition." Total funding will be $147,750 over 36 months.

Albert M. Chang of Physics has received an award from the National Science Foundation for a project entitled "Probing Fractional Statistics and Correlated States in Cleave-Edge Devices." Total funding will be $520,002 over 48 months.

Stefano Curtarolo of Mechanical Engineering has received an award from the Office of Naval Research for a project entitled "Enabling Strategic Collaborations between the Naval Research Laboratory and Duke University in the Field of Titanium Alloys - Phase II." Total funding will be $13,203 over 35 months.

Richard T. DiGiulio of the Nicholas School has received an award from the National Institute of Environmental Health Sciences for a project entitled "Integrated Toxicology Program Extension (supplement)." Total funding will be $29,664 over 12 months.
