John D. Albertson of Civil Engineering has received an award from the Department of Agriculture for a project entitled "Accounting for Effects of Subpixel Surface Variability on Regional Flux Estimation Using Large Eddy Simulation with Terra and Aqua Sensors." Total funding will be $101,791 over 56 months.

Charles M. Becker of Economics has received an award from the National Science Foundation for a project entitled "American Economic Association Summer Program and Minority Scholarship Program (Supplement)." Total funding will be $39,922 over 36 months.

Norman L. Christensen of the Nicholas School has received an award from the National Aeronautics and Space Administration for a project entitled "Monitoring and modeling the response of coastal ecosystems and carbon storage to rising sea level." Total funding will be $24,000 over 4 months.

Robert L. Clark, Jr. of the Center for Biologically Inspired Materials and Material Systems has received an award from the Army Research Office for a project entitled "International Symposium of Biointerface Science." Total funding will be $14,558 over 8 months.

Franklin H. Cocks of Mechanical Engineering has received an award from the Lord Foundation of North Carolina for a project entitled "Purchase of an EDAX Detector for Undergraduate Scanning Electron Microscope." Total funding will be $8,000 over 11 months.

John E. Dolbow of Civil Engineering has received an award from the Department of Energy for a project entitled "Computational Strategies for Phase Transitions Driven by Coupled Stress and Diffusion: Application to the Kinetics of Synthetic Hydrogels." Total funding will be $209,324 over 36 months.

Daniel J. Gauthier of Physics has received an award from the Army Research Office for a project entitled "Complexity-Enabled Sensor Networks and Photonic Switching Devices." Total funding will be $150,000 over 18 months.

Joseph A. Izatt of Biomedical Engineering has received an award from the University of Southern California for a project entitled "Advanced Imaging for Glaucoma (supplement)." Total funding will be $69,615 over 4 months.

James A. Joseph of Public Policy Studies has received an award from the Ford Foundation for a project entitled "Operating and Program Support for the Center for Leadership and Public Values at the Terry Sanford Institute of Public Values." Total funding will be $225,000 over 36 months.

Thomas B. Kepler of the Center for Bioinformatics & Computational Biology has received an award from the National Institutes of Health for a project entitled "Bioinformatics and Computational Biology Training Program." Total funding will be $1,573,556 over 60 months.

Robert E. Kielb of Mechanical Engineering has received an award from the Lord Foundation of North Carolina for a project entitled "Annual MEMS Engineering Design Contest." Total funding will be $15,000 over 11 months.

Sutton-Grier, for a project entitled "Dissertation Research: The role of plant functional diversity in regulating nitrogen removal in restored riparian wetlands." Total funding will be $11,000 over 24 months.

Daniel Rittschof of the Marine Lab has received an award from Interlux (Akzo Nobel) for a project entitled "Rapid Empirical Development of Novel Antifouling Technology." Total funding will be $8,629. There is no specified project period.

Schuler of Civil Engineering has received an award from the Lord Foundation of North Carolina for a project entitled "Engineers without Borders - Tsunami Recovery Projects: Interdisciplinary Design and Implementation for Sustainable Development." Total funding will be $25,000 over 11 months.

Donald E. Stone of the Organization for Tropical Studies has received an award from the National Science Foundation for a project entitled "Research Experiences for Undergraduates in Tropical Biology in Costa Rica (Supplement)." Total funding will be $41,046 over 11 months.

Kathryn Whetten of the Center for Health Policy, Law & Management has received an award from the National Institutes of Health for a project entitled "Secondary Analysis of Existing Alcohol & HIV/AIDs Data." Total funding will be $385,700 over 24 months.

Christina Williams of Psychological and Brain Sciences has received an award from Boston University for a project entitled "Aging of the Brain: Effects of Perinatal Choline Exposure Project 4: Mechanisms of Choline Enhancement of Memory(Supplement)." Total funding will be $30,800 over 72 months.

Stefan Zauscher of the Center for Biologically Inspired Materials and Material Systems has received an award from GlaxoSmithKline for a project entitled "Adhesion Between Carrier and Active Ingredients in Dry-Powder Inhaler Formulations Measured by Force Spectroscopy." Total funding will be $63,131 over 12 months.
