Revising the Budget for the Sponsor

What to do when the sponsor says they are going to fund your project and at a higher rate than you originally asked for!

Negotiating the Contract

ORS is responsible for negotiating the terms and conditions of awards, contracts and coopperative agreements and collecting the appropriate signatures. The terms and conditions define the relationship between the University and the sponsor and clarify each party's roles and obligations.

Not all agreements are "university friendly." Trouble spots tend to appear around intellectual property, publications, indemnity. If problems arise, they need to be negotiated by ORS to safeguard the University's interests.

Spending Before an Award Starts

There may be times that you want to start spending on the project before the project actually starts. In this case, we may need to ask for prior approval for pre-award spending.
